The Lawn Tennis Association has placed the balls of Eastbourne’s annual International Women’s Open firmly in the court of a Sussex PR firm.
Cobb PR, based in Eastbourne, has been employed to promote the prestigious tournament, which consistently attracts the world’s top tennis seeds.
As a result the event promises to be full of fresh features to really give the Open 2007 a brand new look.
Tournament director Gavin Fletcher said: “This year’s new look Open promises to be bigger and better than ever before with a number of exciting new attractions to compliment the thrill of watching the world’s best female tennis players.
“By teaming up with Cobb PR, we plan to reach a more diverse audience by providing something for everyone at the Open, securing its reputation as a truly appealing and world-class event.”
The International Women’s Open, to be held from June 16 to June 23, is Britain’s biggest women’s tournament and combines the skill of the top seeds with the glamour and style of the international tennis tour.
The pre-Wimbledon event last year saw new world No 1 Justine Henin-Hardenne compete with fellow superstars including Kim Clijsters and Amelie Mauresmo.
Tim Cobb, Managing Director of Cobb PR, said: “Key to our exciting work with the LTA will be marketing the Open to a wider target audience.
“The quality of the player line up at the Open is always second to none and we hope to enhance that by organising a fabulous line up of new attractions that appeal to all.”
Tickets for the Open are available from the Championship box office on 01323 412000.
